Côté cour Côté jardin

Competition entry for a Medical Housing Center in Leysin, work for Lemanarc Lausanne.

The building is made of three volumes posed at a distance from the street. This configuration gives off a front yard – the entry and a public terrace and two private rear decks. The stairlike volume sets two roof terraces for use by the residents. The roff terraces offer a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.

The ground floor includes all common use spaces: entrance hall, cafeteria, restaurant and day center. All the common spaces are open onto the central courtyard. Individual rooms are located on the upper floors around the vertical circulation core. Each of them has a loggia opened to the landscape. Local administration and staff offices occupy a central position in the complex on the first floor. The community apartment has its own entrance at the rear of the building and a secondary entrance from inside the center.

The façade is covered with vertical wood battens giving the building a respectful integration into its environment.
